Christmas Nightmare For LA

| Saturday, December 26, 2009

LeBron James and the Cavs were the Christmas delight against the Lakers in Staples Center. The LA fans came for a Kobe showdown against his former teammate Shaq. However, LeBron and Mo Williams had something to say.

Mo with 28 and LeBron with 26, it was Cleveland that gave the Christmas present to their fans.

Only 1 Perfect Team Remains

| Sunday, December 20, 2009
Two teams were perfect this season and were determined to stay that way. But, now only one remains. Payton Manning and his crew is still going perfect as the Saints' perfect season was ruined by Romo's Cowboys. The 24-17 loss was not just the blow of the day; Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush was injured during the game as well.

Manning led his team to a 35-31 win over Jacksonville and remained his perfect season in a 308 yards passing game and 4TD passes. Garrard tried to respond with 3TD passes of his own but the Saints defense just couldn't stop the Colts.

Spot: I am really sorry for the Bengals' loss Chris Henry. Here's his teammates tribute to Henry.

Football(Soccer) Round-Up of the Week

| Monday, December 14, 2009
English Premier League:

The week started off with a great derby match in which the Gunners were able to surprise Liverpool. Arshavin's goal, led Arsenal to victory on Saturday night. Heading into Sunday, a couple of questions where in mind. Will Man City be able to build on their win against Chelsea? Will Man U be surprised yet again by the explosive Aston Villa?

Man City, couldn't deliver the duty after upsetting Chelsea last week. They got their 8th draw in 9 games. Ivan Klasnic, was the star of the day for Bolton, scoring two goals. Man U seems not to be able to recover from Cristiano's departure. On Sunday, Agbonlahor delivered an upset to the defending champions.

Spot: The best highlight of the week. Maynor Figueroa of Wigan. Enjoy!

Spanish La Liga:

The transfer record breaking Real Madrid was missing their two top player, Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka', but still managed to upset the crowd at Mestella. All five goals in the game was scored in 30 minutes, and countless chances were thrown away by both sides.

The Cataluna derby was another highlight of the week as Barcelona beat Espanyol without their Player Of The Year Lionel Messi. Zlatan, yet again stepped forward and converted a penalty for the Cataluna giants.

On Sunday, we saw Villarreal beat Atletico Madrid. Atletico has been well below expectations this year, although not muhc has changed in the squad. Let's hope they will get better and we will see Forlan and Aguero flying high again.

Spot: Penalty??? Xavi dived REF. Look at this. As Drogba said, 'This is a disgrace. This is a f***ing disgrace"

Italian Serie A:

Nothing went well for the top teams this week, especially Juventus. After a tough loss against Bayern in the CL, they went on to lose to Bari. Inter Milan, did their job on Matchday 6 against Rubin, but not on the weekend, a 1-1 draw against Atalanta. A late goal from Tribocchi and a suspicious red card to Sneijder in the game. The lucky AC Milan weren't that lucky as Palermo crushed them at San Siro 0-2. Fiorentina and Roma were also unable to win their games.

Spot: Milan still seems to be unaware of their downfall. They need a miracle immediately, or they will suffer for a long time.

The Heisman Trophy Winner

The winner of the Heisman trophy

Here's a video compilation of the Heisman Trophy winner, the performance that got him the much deserved award.

Spot: This guy really deserved it, man. I am a Trojan fan, but this guy and Alabama deserved it this season. And a little message to Pete Carroll: WE WANT THE DOMINANT TROJANS BACK.

Heisman Trophy Nominees

| Saturday, December 12, 2009
After a long, exciting, and surprising season, the most glorious award is to be awarded.

Here are the nominees:

The outstanding Running Back of the explosive Cardinals, Toby Gerhart.

Gerhart, had a record-breaking season his senior year, running more yards than anybody (1,736) and scoring more touchdowns that anybody (26).

The explosive RB of Alabama, Mark Ingram.

Ingram has run 1,542 yards and scored 15 touchdowns for the No.1 Alabama.

University of Texas QB, Colt McCoy.

McCoy's numbers has fallen compared to '08 but still led his team to the National Championship. He passed 3,512 yards and 27 touchdowns.

The defensive monster of Nebraska, Ndamukong Suh, who finished the season with 12 sacks.

The already Heisman winner Florida Senior Tim Tebow, who said goodbye to his school this year, with a heartbreaking loss against Alabama.

Tebow passed 2,413 yards this season and rushed 859 yards.

Player of the Decade

| Thursday, December 10, 2009
The Player of the Decade award was awarded a couple days ago. The winner was Ronaldinho. It did not surprise me at all actually since he was one of the best players my generation was lucky to watch at his best. We all know what he can do at his best, we have all seen but he has done at his best. How his fire for the game drove him success and having fun no matter who the opponent was. Ronaldinho has always been and will be an amazing and fun to watch player.

But after his transfer to Milan, something was different for the always-laughing Roni. And I saw this picture today and I think this summarizes what happened to him.

Ronaldinho. One of the best players ever, lost his fire, and desire to play football(soccer). We always remembered him with his funny teeth(sorry Roni) and the smile on his face. What happened to him? I don't know but I would really love to see him wanting to play again.

Spot: Not much to say about this guy but to post the video below. This summarizes everything I can say about him.

Champions League Round Up

Bordeaux616
Bayern610
Juventus68
Maccabi Haifa60

Juventus 1 - 4 Bayern

Haifa 0 - 1 Bordeaux

Iverson Makes Debut but Loses To Former Team

| Tuesday, December 8, 2009

We are all fortunate to see AI back in his home team, where he belongs, the Philadelphia 76ers. Not much have changed in the starting lineup since he left having his buddies AI2 and Dalembert on court with. AI and his 76ers got off the a nice start and led 44-41 at the break. AI2 had 18 in the half.

But Billups and the Nuggets came back strong in the second half, even though K-Mart dislocated his left pinky in the first half (did start second half). Nuggets won 93-83.

No matter what, Welcome Back Allen!

Spot: This is probably the best guy I was able to watch live. Yeah, I missed Jordan. I was one of the fortunate ones who had the privilege to watch when he was at his best. Welcome Home, The Answer!

Steelers and Pats in Trouble

|

The defending champion Steelers have started the season as champions but will they end it that way, or even get to the playoffs?? Questions started to raise as Steelers extended their loss streak to four against the Raiders.

After last week's defeat against Baltimore, Steelers were expected "unleash hell" against the Raiders. It did not quite happen that way, as Raiders cruised to a victory in the last quarter. Raiders QB Gradkowski threw 308 yards and 3 TD passes, and the Steelers defense could do nothing about it. Seems like Polamalu will be missed more than expected by the defending Champions.

Meanwhile, Patriots lost 3rd in the last 4 games against the Dolphins. Seems like the 13-0 season was long ago. Tom Brady and his crew were expected to bounce back from the recent poor performances and run over the Dolphins easily but instead, Henne and his crew bounced them back from Miami, as he threw 335 yards and the 2TDs.

Spot: Ok, I understand Polamalu was important but come on you're the champ. Big Ben, do something or you're out of the playoffs. And you Brady, show your leadership dude. Where's the spirit. Ok your defense only has 20 sacks in the season but this is why they have you, right?

The Unlucky Oden

| Monday, December 7, 2009

The Portland Trail Blazers were above expectations last season as they finished the Western Conference at number four having the same 54-28 record with division leader Nuggets. They were eliminated in the playoffs, clearly because lack of experience but their rookie out of Ohio State was one of the key reasons Portland could reach that high.

They were expected to be more threatening this year, as Oden was going to be more dominating down low and Roy almost becoming a superstar. But, bad luck just could not leave Oden alone.

Saturday night against the Rockets, the Blazers powerhouse went down in the first quarter. After seven long minutes, Oden was taken off the court on a stretcher and rushed to the hospital for MRI.

At 11.41 pm the bad news came from the Vice President of Communications Cheri Hanson:

"MRI confirms Portland C Greg Oden fractured left patella. Will undergo surgery to repair. Likely out for the season."

Spot: Another season miss. Come on, now. Hey, Blazer staff? Aren't you taking care of your big guy? You wanna miss the playoffs again?

The Richie Rich Man City Finally Win - and A Big ONE

|
AS most of the football(soccer) fans all over the world already know, Manchester City was taken over by Abu Dhabi United Group for Development and Investment (ADUG). A long-time United domination, was threatened soon after the completion of the takeover as Man City signed ex-United player Carlos Tevez, who stated he was unhappy at United throughout the season.

Man City, did not stop there. They also signed, Emmanuel Adebayor, Roque Santa Cruz, Stuart Taylor, Gareth Barry, Joleon Lescott, Sylvinho and Kolo Toure for a total of God knows how much money.

However, things were not going as expected for the reformed Manchester City team. They were on a 7 draw record until they finally won, against another Richie Rich club Chelsea.

The scoreboard showed 0 -1 for Chelsea as Adebayor scored an own goal. With 8 minutes left to half time, Adebayor stated that he could score to both goals, 1 - 1. Tevez added one of his own with a beautiful freekick to lead City to victory after a penalty miss by Lampard. Here are the highlights:

BCS National Championship

| Sunday, December 6, 2009
After a long and exciting NCAA football season, we come to an end. There was no huge surprises in the BCS National Championship, but a heartbreaking finish for Tim Tebow, the 2007 Heisman Trophy Winner for the Gators. When time ran out against Alabama, Tebow had to face the reality that he was not going to the National Championship as he planned.

Alabama and Texas will play the National Championship Game on January 7th, 2010 at Pasadena, CA.

Kobe creates miracle yet again

|
Just over a week passed since Kobe put the ball over the top of the backboard against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Yet, Kobe hurried to another miracle. Friday night, against the Heat, Kobe beat the buzzer with a miracle shot over Dwayne Wade, who missed one of two fouls with 4 seconds left.

Kobe described his shot, "It was the luckiest shot I’ve ever taken, by far. It felt good, (but) I just couldn’t believe this ball might go in on this shot."

Here's Kobe's miracle shot:

Spot: As much as I hate this guy, he is a miracle worker. Oh, and WADE WTF missing that foul shot?

The Answer Is Back In Philly

|

The legendary 76ers player came back home after a long search for the ring. Played in a couple of different teams, ending up in Memphis in the beginning of this season.

Iverson left the Grizzlies before even playing a home game claiming at the time, though he still had the fire, his family was more important now. Now we see, all he wanted was to come back home. He came back to the 76ers, to bring excitement back to the city, and to lead his beloved team to another title reign.

AI, who spent 11 seasons at Philly, averaged more than 30 points in 5 seasons, and had his most successful year when he reached the NBA finals with coach Larry Brown. He was also announced as the MVP of the same, 2000-2001, season. 10-time All Star Iverson, managed to be the NBA Scoring Champ 4 times.

I want to welcome Iverson to where his heart always belonged and want to see him back to his Scoring Champ days.

Spot: This guy deserves a championship more than any other guy in the league. All that he has done in his career! But hey, Malone did not get one either, right?

Two Great Rivalries, Two Great Matches, No Surprises

|

Over the weekend football fans watched two of the greatest rivalries over the weekend. Both the English Premier League and La Liga hosted two great matches.

The London derby started off the super Sunday. Arsenal - Chelsea at Emirates. Early into the game, both sides were looking for goals. Arsenal's first chance was denied by the referee and so was Anelka's protests for a penalty. As rain got heavier, teams struggled more to get the ball into the box. 41 minutes into the game, Ashley Cole, ex-Arsenal player, crossed a wonderful to an even better finish by Drogba, giving Chelsea the break they needed. Only 4 minutes later, Cole looked for Drogba again. He couldn't find him but Vermaelen did the job instead of Drogba and gave Chelsea a 0-2 lead just before the half-time break.

Arsene Wenger's side couldn't get going all game. They tried to convert a gift from Drogba but were denied by Cech first and then the referee again. Chelsea, almost got lucky when Drogba tried his luck form the corner of the box and the ball hit 2 people before finally reaching the glove of Almunia. With 4 minutes left on the clock, Drogba sealed the game with an astonishing free kick.

El Clasico was the Sunday Night Delight. Barcelona vs Real Madrid at Camp Nou. The rivalry between these teams is not just "We are the bigger club" but is the Capital of Catalonia vs the Capital of Spain.

Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini chose to attack with all his got. Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Higuain and their army were ready for revenge of last years catastrophe in Santiago Bernabeu. First half, was not close to the excitement in last years game but €65,000,000 set €94,000,000 Cristiano Ronaldo up for his first El Clasico goal but Ronaldo generously wasted the assist.

Guardiola saved Ibrahimovic for the second half. He subbed in, and did his job in the 55th minute with a great lefty volley to a wonderful Dani Alves cross. Later in the game, Messi returned Cristiano Ronaldo's favor with a miss of his own. Barcelona continued their winning streak against their arch rivals Real Madrid with Ibrahimovic's single goal.

Spot: Look at this squad formed by these two teams:

Trojans Kick Bruin Ass

|

Another year of disappointment for the Bruins at the Coliseum. USC continued their overwhelming victories against cross town rivals UCLA.

USC Trojans have been far from terrific this year, especially after the upset against state rivals Stanford at the Coliseum. But they were still able to show that they ruled the city in football.

Coming strong on defense in the first quarter, Malcolm Smith intercepted a pass from the UCLA QB Kevin Prince, returned it for a 62-yard touchdown, giving the Trojans a 7-0 lead against the Bruins. UCLA never got going in the game as Trojans defense dominated UCLA offense. Will Harris intercepted another pass and Trojans returned the favor with a scoring drive ending with the 3-yards rushing touchdown by Allen Bradford.

When Matt Barkley kneeled to finish off the game with 90 seconds remaining but UCLA stopped the Trojans with a timeout. But they forgot the power of Pete Carroll and his team. Trojans made UCLA pay with another touchdown, 48-yard pass by Barkley, making the scoreboard 28-7 for another dominating victory, 10th in the last 11. Well, Trojans are right when they say "Don't Bruin Your Life"

Spot: DONT BRUIN YOUR LIFE
